Introducing Bartholomew!

We have a new education bird here at Operation Orphan; his name is Bartholomew and he is a Barred Owl.  Bartholomew got his name from the women that found him found on the side of the road in Mogadore, Ohio.  He had been struck by a vehicle and his shoulder was shattered.    The repair was unsuccessful, so we asked for consent to use him in education.  Consent was given, he has had Jesse put on his legs (leather straps to hook a tether to), and I have been working with him.

If you would like to meet “Bart,” he will be at Donzell’s Garden Center on April 14 and 15, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 4:00 p.m.

Things to know:
Barred Owls have the big black button eyes and they are population controllers.  If you ever hear a bird calling that you can put the words, “Who cooks for you, who cooks for you all,” you are hearing a Barred Owl.

If you have time, come pay him and our other education animals a visit in April or one of our other educational programs this year.
